Security: 5 URL’s that I found for K-12 programs from undercover agencies

Security is a big deal right now, likely there will be money for research, training and high schools through various agencies. Not saying these are going to give you money, but if you are a non-profit trying to get funding for your CS program, these might be another source.  Might want to check with the most recent corporation that got hacked.

Sometimes you could jump in and get money or more likely curriculum for no charge from the various “undercover” agencies.  And here are the URLs that could get you started, or you could use for home schooling:

  1. Darpa: Information Innovation Office program titled Engage. , which leads you to CS2N https://www.cs2n.org/, looks interesting, you definitely could use these in the curriculum
  2. NSA: Early Opportunities (K-12), which will lead you to a number of programs that help promote math, science and language education at K-12 levels.
  3. CIA: Kids’ Zone, this site, although mildly creepy when you first think about it, has a number of tools that appear to me to be fun.  Adding just a little more creepiness: should spying be fun?  Or the reality that it is enormously boring?  Not sure, but check it out.
  4. FBI: Fun & Games, interesting, you can also check out the most wanted list (so when a slot gets cleared, do the criminals below that number move up automatically?)  The Wallpapers are definitely the best if you want a system with defensive appearance.
  5. Office of the Director of National Intelligence: Student Opportunities, there is a link to download “IC Opportunities for Students” brochure.  Also, it appears that the ODNI is hiring summer 2015 interns.
