Discussion of tests run:
All of these tests were done using the versions of chrome and IE9 shown on 1/3/2012, the benchmarks used are from a number of sources.
Acid 3
Both browsers passed the Acid 3 test with 100/100
CSS3 selector test:
Both browsers passed the CSS3 selector test as follows, exactly the same wording:
“From the 41 selectors 41 have passed, 0 are buggy and 0 are unsupported (Passed 574 out of 574 tests)”
MSU Speed Test:
Using the MSU speed test, and using my corporate machine here are the speed comparisons between IE 9 and Chrome:
This test is a simple one from MSU, Michigan State University. (IP address removed, same for both tests)

Sunfisher results:
Fishbowl
In this one I used the Fishbowl speed test from the IE site and ran both in Chrome and IE9, find the test at:
https://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/FishBowl/
Placed the URL in both Web Browsers and observe the framerate.
Chrome and IE 9.0 were the same versions as mentioned
CPU and Memory Utilization are shown ( you may need to enlarge the images)
Chrome is on the left and IE 9 is on the right, Framerate for Google is 11 FPS and the Framerate for IE9 is 60 FPS.
Security
Oh I have mentioned the situation elsewhere, and even with hard non-Microsoft numbers you either love chrome and it’s insecure nature or you don’t. That is a separate blog.
Conclusion:
You make your own.
