What is good subject material? Courts have made the decision

As you build your games, you need to think about the subject material.  The more appealing your subject material the wider your audience.

Recently, the Los Angeles Times ran an article about “Parents issue warning about the Lost and the Damned” add-on for Grand Theft auto.  Apparently there was nudity in the game and this upset the parents.

“…three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district court ruling from 2007 that invalidated a California law banning the sale or rental of violent games to those younger than 18…”

Keep in mind though, intact families usually have the strongest economy leverage in the current economy.  Ratings will hurt your sales, so be aware of these types of issues as you design your game.

Mad has always been about poor chosen subject material, but in an enjoyable way!
