Image editing can be quite demanding of processing resources, even for today's hardware. The demand for the processing power necessary for today's photographers often means spending a lot of time in front of the computer instead of being out shooting photographs. The old saying "time is money" holds true, not only for professional photographers, but also for hobbyists who often waste time waiting for screen updates or watching progress bars. The answer to today's resource processing demands is to make image editing applications simply more responsive so that photographers can spend more time expressing their creativity by trying the endless combinations of image processing technologies available today. This presentation will highlight some of the optimization efforts implemented by Nik Software to provide a faster and more efficient photography experience through the adoption of the latest chip technologies and Intel® software optimization development tools.
