Visual Studio 2005 and the .NET Framework 2.0 have shipped!!

Both are now what we call RTM (Release to Manufacturing), which means developers who have an MSDN subscription will be able to download the final releases probably within a few hours and that we are sending the final bits to duplicators to produce many CDs and DVDs to have them ready for our big Launch Event on November 7th.

(I can't tell you much about this event, but I can assure you it is going to ROCK. )

This release includes 64 bit versions of the .NET framework, Visual Studio Team System and the Visual Studio Express Editions. I have worked with quite some software companies and learned about their development processes, but this one is by far, from an engineering perspective, the most quality-driven release I have seen. The internal build and release processes, the stress tests, the bug tracking, and the passion from the whole engineering theam to deliver the most secure, highest-performance quality product is amazing and makes me proud of being part of this.

It's finally here, for developers around the world to use it as their tool of choice to change the world through better software.
Developers, start your engines!
