Web Client Deployment Guide for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013

Jason Lech - Click for blog homepageThe introduction of the Web Client for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 produces some challenges for those that are in pre-deployment and deployment roles.

There has been some exposure to the various stack technologies with the Business Portal, Workflow, Web Services and eConnect, but none have taken us to the depth that the Web Client does. This is especially true for an Internet-Facing Deployment (IFD) of the Web Client.

The questions that we don't ask always seem to delay an implementation. The questions that we don't know to ask are the ones that cause the implementation to derail.

To help prevent this from occurring, the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Web Client Deployment Guide was created.

This tool is designed to:

  • Aid in the gathering of data regarding the environment to which the Web Client will be deployed
  • Ask the questions that may not have been asked
  • Save the proposed settings for the deployment to an XML format and allow for those settings to be reimported should changes be needed
  • Create a Microsoft Word document that assists the decision-makers understand what is being proposed.

The Web Client Deployment Guide can be downloaded and installed from the Web Client Hot Topic Page. Here is the URL to that page:

Installation

You will need to extract the contents of the zip file to a location on your hard drive and then double-click on Setup.exe.

The installation process is pretty straight-forward. The installer will walk you through the process.

Once installed, you will see a shortcut on your desktop for the tool. Other than the shortcut, the other option for accessing the tool is from the directory where you chose to install the application.

Support

The support for this tool will be done solely through the Community Forums. Feel free to open a new post regarding any issues you see or any suggestions you find that would assist in the process of deploying.

I am very excited for being involved in the release of this tool and I'm confident that the use of the tool in the deployment will be time that is well-spent.

Best Regards,

Jason
