Bringing Magic to Life

David Meego - Click for blog homepageEvery now and then something happens that warms your heart and makes you proud to work for the company you work for.

For me working at Microsoft, this is usually when I see how the hardware, software or services we create and support make a difference in people's lives, or maybe the great work done by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

However, the biggest thrill of all is when I can personally give back to the community while representing Microsoft. I have mentioned before that I present about Internet safety as part of the ThinkUKnow program. I have also helped pack Christmas hampers for The Smith Family. Well now I would like to tell you about another program that I am proud to be a part of.

When the Kinect for Xbox 360 was released in November 2010, Microsoft Australia in conjunction with the Customer Services & Support (CSS) team for Asia Pacific & Greater China (APGC) donated Xbox consoles with Kinect and a number of Kinect games to the Starlight Children's Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia, and we did a little bit to assist with that mission.

I will let the video below explain more:

Microsoft Australia has teamed up with the Starlight Foundation to Donate Xbox Kinect's to all Children's Hospitals across Australia to Bring Magic to Life to sick Children and make their Hospitals stays more enjoyable.

My Manager, Charlie Chidiac, and my Dynamics GP Support team colleague, Marian Verzosa, were interviewed for the video.

I am thrilled to share a little insight into the great work we do in the community.

PS: If you are wondering why I did not post about this earlier.... It took a little while to get permission from everyone in the video to allow it to be shared publicly.
