The Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Conference 2011 starts today.

The morning started with the Opening Keynote. Here are the team getting ready to present.

Chad Sogge, Brian Meier, Jeff Trosen, and Errol Schoenfish

We had some great information and demos about the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 release. There are a huge number of new features planned, the slide below from the presentation shows a summary.  If you are finding this hard to read, don't worry, I have obtained permission to attach the slides from the presentation to the bottom of this blog post.

During the opening session, the latest Microsoft Dynamics GP roadmap was revealed. The slide below shows this roadmap. If you are interested in comparing the roadmaps over time, check out Mariano's post: The Evolution of the Microsoft Dynamics GP Roadmap.

Now, here is the coolest part of the opening session, while the attending partners are under NDA, I have been granted special permission to let you know something AWESOME.

Microsoft Dynamics GP is not dead or dying.  In fact, the development team is growing and the reason is that there is work on one of the coolest features ever in the history of the product.

Microsoft Dynamics GP "12" (the next version) will have a light deployment client as well as the current rich client. In simple terms, there will be a web based client which will be capable of reproducing any Dexterity based window in an Internet browser.

The video below shows the response from the audience after a quick demo of the GP Web prototype.

Mariano and I had a chance to catch up with Errol and Pam from the Product Management team after the opening session.  I think they were thrilled with the response from the conference attendees.

David Musgrave, Errol Schoenfish, Pam Misialek, Mariano Gomez.

Please post comments with your thoughts (especially if you attended the conference).

Note: Please don't ask for more information on the web client as it is still too early to elaborate.
