New Microsoft Dynamics GP Partner Forum

David MeegoOn the 27th April 2009 at 9am PST (US Pacific Standard Time), there will be some changes happening with the managed Partner newsgroups for Microsoft Dynamics GP.  They are being migrated a new forum style rather than the older newsgroup technology.

This information is only relevant to Microsoft partners and refers to the Certified and Gold Certified Partner newsgroup and the Direct Access Partner newsgroup, which can be accessed with the links below:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Global English Partner Online Technical Communities upgraded to the forum platform since Apr 27, 2009, at 9:00am PST. As the sum-up of partners’ feedback/enquiries today, we’d like to outline the following FAQs for your reference. For anything unclear or we can help, please don’t hesitate to email us at pngfd@microsoft.com. Thank you.

Q: Why my old threads are not listed under My Threads on forum?
A: It is because the threads on NNTP newsgroups won’t be replicated to forums automatically. We still assist partners’ existing threads on NNTP until every thread is resolved. For new threads, we’d encourage partners to initiate from forums directly hence partners can start to experience the enhanced community functions.

Q: On forum platform, how to distinguish between Partner online technical communities from other public online communities?
A: Partner Online Technical Communities on the Forum platform are displayed with “(Partner)” marked in the subjects. You will need to sign in forum by using the LiveID which has been associated with your company's MSPP account. Otherwise, you will not be able to see the Partner OTCs on the Forum platform.

Q: How to associate my LiveID with my organization’s Partner Program account?
A: The steps are:

  1. Load the partner portal: https://partner.microsoft.com/.
  2. Select Program Membership, and select Manage My Membership.
  3. Select Manage Your Account, follow the guide to sign in by using your LiveID, and then select Associate as an Individual.
  4. Follow the wizard to associate your email address with your organization’s Partner Program account. Your Partner Program administrator will receive the approval request in Partner Membership Centre.
  5. Once it gets to be approved, you can use that LiveID to access Partner Online Technical Community.

Q: How can I get back to the top level of POTC on forum?
A: You can click “Forums Home” on the right pane of the forum page.

There are also some other Microsoft Dynamics GP forums created, but they are not being used as yet, so while you can post to them you probably will not get a response. They are:

Note: At this stage I suggest you do not use these 3 public forums.

The links for the new partner forum has been updated onto the left hand pane of the blog.
