“What does the MVP say?” – Introducing Thierry Deman

As the first part of our MVP interview series, we’d like to present to you Thierry Deman!

French MVP, French moderator, MSDN Translation Wiki

Thierry has been participating in our MSDN Translation Wiki community since about March 2013. Following are some things he has to say about his experience:

Please tell us a bit about yourself. What is your background?

“I have been working with microcomputers since the beginning in 1978/79. The PC did not exist at that time. I started as Analyst-Programmer, and I am now a System Architect, mainly on Microsoft systems.

Why did you decide to become a moderator for French and spend your free time on this activity?

I have been interested in foreign languages for a long time now. I don’t write a lot in English because I think there is already a lot of content available. But I like to translate these articles and to find them in readable French and technically correct.

Can you explain what did you find more rewarding/ interesting about this experience?

When using and translating from several languages, finding the best word or expression to explain an idea is an interesting and amusing task, such as doing brainteasers. Also, machine-translated content yields often some amusing sentences, but it does not help to understand the complete meaning.”

We’d like to commend Thierry on the excellence he’s demonstrated that resulted in his MVP award, and heartily thank him for his participation in Translation Wiki. Way to go, Thierry!
