Is there anywhere that I can go to learn whether or not there are extensibility (e.g. plugins) enhancements for OneNote2010

I don’t think this is a bug with OneNote (though I can’t be sure, but no-one else seems to be having this problem), and I think maybe I’m just missing something obvious…

Either way, I can’t seem to modify the pen choices at all. And they are *not* grayed out, I can select them just fine. But I seem to be limited to what are the defaults (black, blue, green, red) and the associated thicknesses. For some reason I can’t figure out how to "customize the current pen", like I could in 2007.

When I select the "shape properties"/"colour and thickness" changer thing, I can select any colour and thickness, but it doesn’t change anything with the pen.

Do I need to "create" a new pen to use? If so,

    how do I do so?

Aside from this one little thing (which yes, has been very frustrating) I am very much enjoying the 2010 additions…

    Great work!

The black theme has inconsistent colouring in OneNote 2010 beta. Should do something about that, and maybe make the black, more black.

I am liking OneNote 2010 better than previous versions which I have found a little cumbersome to navigate.

I am trying to find out if there is an SDK / developer’s notes on Onenote …. I would really like to write some additional integration myself and cannot seem to find anything.

I have a few features I’m missing in OneNote.

    – In OneNote 2007 you could print out a page or save it as a pdf, without the grid lines showing.  Now, every time I want to save something as a pdf, I have to deactivate the grid lines first.

    – OneNote always places page numbers on the page, when you print/save them.  I don’t like this feature, so every time I print/save something to pdf I have to go to the page preview window first and deactivate the numbering.  I wish there was a may to mark this as a standard.  This goes for the title as well.

    – When I save something to pdf, I can’t change the border width around the page. It would be great if such feature was implemented. On top, it would be really cool to have a feature which trims away the whole boarder around the pdf.

    – Another useful feature, would be the possibility to copy text from a picture, but not the whole text, only parts of it that you select with the lasso or some other kind of tool.

    – In OneNote2007 my webcam showed up in the scanner section, so I could take pictures of texts and place them in to OneNote.  Now, my camera isn’t recognized by OneNote any more.

    – Fill out form. Often I would like to scan or print a formula into OneNote, fill it out and then save it as pdf again. Unfortunately OneNote doesn’t line up the pages very well.  If I leave the page size set to automatic, the boarder is to wide and when I set it to A4, the printout is to big and gets cut of.

    – When I paste part of pdf document through screen-capture(using the pdfprograms screen capture) into OneNote and then save it as a pdf, the picture I grabbed has a blueish background instead of white.

    –  I would like to use OneNote screen-capture-tool, but it always adds the date and time to the capture.  Since I don’t want to see this, I have to ether delete it every time or use another capture tool (which is what I’m doing).

All in all, I’m very happy with OneNote2010!

    Best regards,

I have created a training manual in OneNote for my staff to use.  My question is that when I create pages in OneNote is there anyway to protect the data so my staff can read but not make edits to it?

  10. odi says:

is there a way where after i create a page i can chagne the style, i know there are templates that i can use when creating a new page, but what about changing they style of the page after you create it ?

  11. AJ says:

I really liked using the OneNote printout manager that you created as a powertoy for 2007. Is there a similar way to manage printouts in 2010? I mainly like the ability to increase and decrease page sizes seamlessly. Thank you!

  12. Hermann says:

I second the first poster. There is no mentioned of an SDK/API/Plugins/Extensions anywhere. Will there be one?

  13. Kevin Yang says:

hi, daniel, can i ask, why does microsoft remove the ‘live session’ feature? it ‘s a very useful feature which our company uses every day. the sharenotebook isn’t that convenient. and it’s not real-time update.

    looking forward to your reply.

  14. Sandra says:

Yea I’d like to know why they got rid of the Live Session feature too!   It was extremely useful and  used ALL the time!

  15. ashley says:

It probably not a bug but I am a college student and my teacher has documents available to us to put into our onenote notebooks so that when we send it to her dropbox to turn it in it will be easy for her to read or something. I am having a issue with getting the document to appear in my onenote, I have Microsoft Office 2010 also if that helps but after I click the download from the box that appears, one note pops up trying to get the document to load on it but then I get a message saying onenote must be online to complete this task or something like that. PLEASE HELP ASAP, thank you.

  16. Rick says:

cannot get brother CC3 to scan to onenote.exe

  17. Mark says:

This is an old post, I know, but I have the same issue as ashley when trying to open a document from a Sharepoint server with the latest version of OneNote2010.  It churns, then says "Opening" followed by a "OnenNote must be online to complete this operation."

Sync status is online.  And no problems opening/sharing via Skydrive.

  18. Raj Dev says:

Would love for OneNote's categories to be synced (or have the option of being synced) with MS Outlook's.

  19. Lucas says:

This is definitely a Bug with OneNote 2010.

When i disable the "Microsoft OneNote Quick Launcher" in the Startup tab of Task Manager, my Notebook PC running Windows 8.1 ceases to load Windows when i next turn it on.

It is just left hanging at the login screen and requires a Hard shutdown.
