OneNote 2007 SP2 - Now Available

While we were working on OneNote 2010 we also spent sometime improving the current version, OneNote 2007, and you will see this with service pack 2 (SP2) which is available on Tuesday 2009-04-28 in the morning (Pacific -8 GMT).  More details will be up on the Office Sustained Engineering blog and direct links will be available there.  However you should also see this update available via Microsoft Update.

For OneNote the key updates include:

  • Improved SharePoint sync
  • Fewer crashes
  • Security improvements
  • Fix for when you send an email from OneNote and the embedded files end up as images in Outlook instead of attached files (this bug really killed me)
  • Added support for Japanese OCR

Additionally for the whole Office suite we some great updates:

  • Outlook performance is greatly improved, you will really love this update just for this
  • Support for OpenDocument Format (ODF) so you can edit/save/open odt, odp, ods files in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Plus more!

I would encourage everyone to install this update as it will make your daily computing much better.
