Halo 2

Halo 2 has been out for almost a week now and I haven’t mentioned it on my blog? What kind of blogger can I be? Well we probably have a biased view of things up here in Redmond but it seems like everyone was talking about it last week. I did pick it up, but last week was a little busy so I didn’t play it much. My other problem is that my projector is currently away being cleaned so unfortunately I have to play it on my regular 4:3 TV using the built in TV speakers so I’m not getting any of that widescreen and 5.1 goodness – Oh the humanity.

One of the things that always impressed me with the campaign was the audio soundtrack in the background and how it changed with what was going on. I remember one time when I was playing one of the multiplayer games in the beta I was disappointed that it didn’t have that dynamic background music. However one time, I was playing a new map and I was going into unchartered territory when suddenly this eerie classical music started up in the background. Very cool, I thought. After a while though, it didn’t seem to change that much and then it dawned on me that it was my Media Center (connected to different speakers) which had unpaused itself and I had previously turned it to the local Arts channel. It was definitely good Halo music for a while though :-)
