Things I discovered about Vista today...

Quick tips:

  • Search on the top right of every page (like searching control panel for power)
  • Search using the Start Search (windows button) - e.g. %temp% takes you to the corresponding environment variable directory

Issues found:

  • IE7 connections to various sites can be a pain - ActiveX controls etc and timeouts
  • Printing wirelessly (security related?) - solution logout/reboot to wired

Stuff I liked:

  • Wireless connectivity is much better around the house with Vista, unlike my XP setup I have 0 dropouts even when on the VPN

Copying files across networks and between drives is much faster. Admittedly it takes a lot longer thinking about copying but when it does actually copy its very fast. A big improvement thanks to the network stack rewrite.
