I want to build it, so they will come!

My role as a Developer Evangelist has me on the road a fair bit, meeting development teams, and seeing the challenges they face day to day. They see me as being quite privileged, and I constantly cop jives along the lines of, "Yeah Lemphers, you think you know dev, but when was the last time you had to build something useful!" I have to be honest, the last time I built anything useful, the term GUI referred to something on the bottom of your shoe, but now that I have been cast head first into VSTS, I'm doing more builds than an off-shore dev shop.

So what has become the latest Summum bonum of my VSTS existence? Team Build!!! It's capable of grabbing goodies from SCC, updating the WIT database, running code analysis and unit tests, and emailing your mother once a week to tell her you're still eating well. I mean, I'm excited! Are you!?

Anyway, here are some links to Rob's blog, and to Khushboo's post on the TFS blog too, both are good primers.

And remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, but your software projects should be! Word!
