Thirteen years? Already?

Thirteen years ago today, I arrived in building 15 (now demolished) on the Microsoft campus for new employee orientation -- as a new support engineer for MS-DOS 5...Now, I'm one of the "old guys" (as a current team member so kindly called me) and have helped ship multiple versions of Windows, DirectX, Visual Studio and the .NET Compact Framework.

Products have come and gone (anyone remember MS Bob?). PCs have gotten massively more powerful and many are small enough to fit into PDAs and cel phones. In fact, my current PocketPC is more powerful, by far, than the systems we used to build Windows 95 and they have as much (or more) memory than most of them, too.

Once you get past the 10 year threshold, folks start asking things like "Retiring soon?". The answer is an emphatic "NO!". For better or worse, you folks are stuck with me. :)

Here's to the next 13 years!
