Building Web Parts the Smart Way with ASP.NET AJAX

As announced earlier Steven Wilssens isn't able to make it to Dev & IT-Pro Days 2007. Given that the cancellation was very short notice I wasn't able to find a speaker with practical experience in this and who could deliver a session on how Microsoft's DevDiv adapted Team System to fit an organization's (cfr Microsoft) project management, project processes and reporting needs. So I decided to cancel the session. :-(

But here's the deal: Gregg Boer, a Program Manager of the TFS team, will record the session as announced as a webcast, and we'll make sure it will find its way to the attendees of Dev & IT-Pro Days 2007. Please check out the post-event communications for more info on this.

The replacement session will be hosted by Patrick Tisseghem and is titled "Building Web Parts the Smart Way". This is an updated talk from TechEd: Developers which will now show on how to include ASP.NET AJAX in SharePoint web parts.

Here's the abstract:

This session is all about building Web Parts in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. You’ll learn how to start with the development of Web Parts, use the latest Visual Studio Extensions for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, see how you can leverage the Return of SmartPart to help you to be more productive, see some integration of AJAX technology and SharePoint Web Parts and you’ll learn more about the various options to package, deploy and maintain your development work using SharePoint Solutions and the Solution Management support in WSS 3.0.

A replacement session was in my opinion the best solution for this particular case. The original content will be made available and the attendees got a brand new session added to the schedule.
