Database Experimentation Assistant - New Analysis Report


STEP ONE: CLICK “NEW ANALYSIS REPORT”
Open the tool and click the hamburger icon on the left side of screen. This will open the left side bar menu. Next, click “Analysis Reports” next to the checklist icon . This will open the Analysis Reports section.

From the Analysis Reports screen, click “New analysis report”.

This will take you to the New analysis report screen.

STEP TWO: INPUTS

Enter Report name, Server name, Windows Authentication, filename, trace file A (production SQL version) and trace file B (Upgrade target SQL version).

  1. Report name – Provide a friendly or recognizable name that you want to call your report. This name will also be the name used for both A and B databases. i.e. A (or B) + Report name + Unique Identifier
  2. Server name  – Provide the name of the server which you would like to contain A’, B, and Analysis databases.
  3. SQL Server instance name – Provide a SQL server where you want the report.
  4. Trace for source serverProvide SQL server (2008 R2) first trace file (.trc).
  5. Trace for target server Provide target SQL server (2014) first trace file (.trc).

STEP THREE: CLICK "START" TO GENERATE REPORT

If the inputs are valid, the analysis report will be created. Otherwise the fields which are invalid inputs will be highlighted with red, please make sure entered values are accurate and again click “Start”. A new analysis report will be generated. The analysis database will follow the naming scheme: “Analysis” + User specified report name + unique identifier.
