Great Indian Developer Awards – Visual Studio and Sharepoint

Even us database folks use Visual Studio either in the form of SSDT (SQL Server Data tools) or BIDS (Business Intelligence Developer Studio)

Initially BIDS was used for development of Cubes and reports. Now SSDT is a single shell that can be used even to develop Database engine objects along with SSRS reports and Analytical models using Multidimensional and Tabular models. We use SharePoint as the collaboration medium for hosting most of Power Pivot, Power View, Excel extracts and even report builder

Visual Studio 2012 and SharePoint 2013 has won three awards in following categories, at season six of the Great Indian DeveloperAwards. These awards recognize the product and innovation excellence of the hundreds of software products and the satisfaction Indian developers drive by
using these tools.

In the survey, developers are asked to vote for their favorite product in various categories and the
selection criteria places emphasis on functionality, usability, innovation and developer satisfaction.
