Tech Ed - Keynote and market place...

Well, we are well underway at Tech Ed.  The first event of the day was the keynote.  Interestingly, in my experience a keynote is really hard - you need to appeal to the entire audience - and this is where it gets tricky.Ron Jacobs introducing the Keynote

Lou Carbone was our keynote speaker along with Michael Platt.  The theme was a nice mix of Software+Services and Make your Mark.  There have been several comments about the keynote.  The ever cynical Kevin Daly said it "was actually very good".  Meanwhile Mauricio who has been to a huge number of keynote presentations said it was "the best keynote ever".  If you missed the keynote (and it was kind of hard not to if you weren't here) it will be up on https://techedlive.co.nz tomorrow.  Nigel has more from behind the scenes of the keynote.

Jay Templeton with WPF touch applicationI've also spent a little time around the market place.  There are a number of partners there who are all happy to talk about their products and services.  There are a few freebies, so go have a look for those.  There are a couple of interesting things to point out.  I caught up with Jay Templeton on the Microsoft stand who is showing off a new touch screen WPF application at the stand - if you are  interested in what is possible you should go find him and check it out.  This is very cool - we need to hook him up with the Virtual Tech Ed team :-).

Louise from Provoke with community cardsAlso - grab yourselves a community card from one of the partner stands or from the Microsoft stand.  If you want to do me a favor - talk to the lovely Louie from Provoke and ask her how she is going giving out all her community cards :-).

If you are interested in what is going on in the community - grab a community card (again Louise has these) or check out the communities hub at https://mscommunities.net.nz - the central hub for all user groups in New Zealand.
