Today Microsoft announced three line of Designer tools known as Expression Family of Products:

  • Expression Graphic Designer (formerly known as "Acrylic")
  • Expression Interactive Designer (formerly known as "Sparkle")
  • Expression Web designer (formerly known as "Quartz")

Microsoft just released the first community technology preview (CTP) of Microsoft Expression Interactive Designer today, a professional design tool for user interfaces and layout for Windows and Web applications. At the same time, Microsoft released the fourth CTP to Expression Graphic Designer (EGD). Expression Interactive Designer (EID) is the second tool from the Microsoft Expression family of products which design and development teams will be able to use to create richer user experience applications for both Windows and the Web.

The Microsoft Expression tools leverage the power of the WinFX developer framework that includes Windows Presentation Foundation, the presentation subsystem for Windows Vista.
