Access 2007 Runtime is for free now

Access 2007 Runtime is for free now...

... The Access 2007 Runtime is similar to previous runtimes in that all design-related UI is either removed or disabled. However, there is one major change: we will be offering the Access 2007 Runtime as a free download. You will not need to buy Visual STudio Tool for Office (VSTO) in order to redistribute the Access 2007 Runtime. You can freely redistribute it or just point people to the download on Microsoft.com.
For Access 2003, you still need to have VSTO 2005

    Hello,

I read that the new Access runtime will be free. I think it is a very good solution but today it seems that this package is not avaible.

Have you an information about the avaibility of the new Access runtime ?

    Thank you

    regards

VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office) contain the Access Runtime.

VSTO 2003 is not free for aiming Access 2003

before the release of VSTO 2008, you can have the VSTO 2005 SE (for Second edition).

VSTO 2005 SE is aiming Office 2007 from Visual Studio 2005 and is free.

After the release of the new Visual STudio (should be VS2008), it will not be free anymore.

    Thank you for your informations.

If I really understood even if Microsoft communicates that the developer extensions and the runtime of access 2007 are now free, the reality is different :

the developer extensions and the runtime for Access 2007 are only free if we bought Visual Studio 2005.

If we have not Visual Studio 2005, it is impossible to download the developer extension and the runtime for Access 2007.

So, it is not really free

    regards
