  1. Hi Dan,

    furthermore, the next URL contains the release notes of this SP;

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=dc455c5d-2c99-43cc-ad71-4e0beb71bfa7&displaylang=en

However, I downloaded the file with these release notes and it goes to:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;918007

    And… this link is broken.

    I hope that helps.

    Kind regards.

    Jorge

What issues does this SP address?  I can’t seem to find an explanation on the ms site?

    thanks

    christian:

There is a link at the bottom of the page: "Hotfixes included in this SP". Unfortunately, the link is broken or not available at this moment. I noted it on another blog but no one has fixed it yet. It looks like it may be KB918007. Perhaps Dan can get the right people to look at it.

  4. Hey guys,

I did forward this to the right folks and they said they were looking into it. Apparently the "propping tools" (the tools used to automagically move web pages from development-staging-production were having some trouble. I’ll send another follow up email.

  5. me says:

Looks like the links are fixed now. Thanks Dan for the prompt response.

christian: The hotfixes link at the bottom of the page lists the addressed issues. Or here is a direct link:

  6. I’ve installed my copy of Visual Studio and I updated it with sp 1 and it has cost more than an hour to install this update sp1 program. All the performance got sucked out of my PC: Pentium III @ 800Mhz with 384 megabytes. I’ve seen that darn hourglass for an hour! Although it’s not that decent, normal software runs well on this box, but MSI is very very slow!

But I’m happy that the update to sp1 went successful!

  7. Gabriele says:

MSI is very Slow to install SP1, It takes 30 minutes before the realy installation starts and the PC freezes.

Detail: Pentiun Centrino 1,5 Ghz, 512 Mb Ram.

After 50 minutes the process is ends succesfully.

  8. Rich says:

I’ve got a similar problem mentioned by Gabriele.

Service Pack 1 freezes while consuming one CPU for many minutes–then abruptly disappears by itself.  When I check Visual Studio’s about box, the SP1 did not install.

    System:

Centrino Duo 1.6Ghz with 1GB RAM, over 50GB free HD space

Windows XP SP2 Media Center (up-to-date)

    Visual Studio 2003 Standard Edition

    Platform SDK Windows 2003 R2 (April 2005)
