Visual Studio LightSwitch Beta 1 now on MSDN

Yesterday, Visual Studio LightSwitch Beta 1 was made available to all MSDN subscribers. LightSwitch as announced at VSLive! earlier this month and is a new edition of Visual Studio.

With LightSwitch, is a rapid application development tool that allows you create line-of-business or departmental-type .NET applications connecting to data hosted in SharePoint, SQL Server, SQL Azure, or anywhere else information is stored. The beautiful part of this is that you don’t need to be .NET developer to become productive with this tool, LightSwitch generates C# or VB code for you and creates a Silverlight 4 out-of-browser desktop application by default. The app can then be customized in LightSwitch or handed over to .NET developers for further development in VS 2010 Pro or higher.

The VS Developer Division has been working on this product for several years. The public beta will be made available for download on Monday, August 23 here, but for you .NET developers with a MSDN subscription, you can download it now! Check it out!

Excelsior!
