Majel Barrett of Star Trek passed away

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the widow of Gene Roddenberry (who created Star Trek), passed away today (December 18, 2008) as a result from complications from leukemia. In Star Trek lore, she was originally cast as "Number One" in the Star Trek pilot called "the Cage", which we saw bits and pieces of in the Original Series Episode 11-12, The Menagerie. In the Original Series, she played Nurse Christine Chapel and worked her way to MD in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. In all the later Star Trek incarnations, she was the voice of all Federation computers.
