What can we look forward to from the Mono team in the future.

With the new release of Mono 1.0, I find myself very happy. But i feel that there is much work that can still be done. Hopefully pretty soon we’ll be able to enjoy:

  • version 2.0 “Stereo”
  • version 4.0 “Quadraphonic” and
  • version 5.0 “Surround” (soon to followed up with a point release that adds more “oomph” for the user).

They’ve made tremendous progress so far, and there’s still so much more for them (and us) to come! Of course, once they hit v7, you know they’re just going to be looking for excuses for people to upgrade.

Thanks to CodeProject for that inspirational bit of humour 🙂

Hmmm, where is the humour in this post? Surround sounds good, Mono will be all around us…

I’ll wait for version 6.1 "DTS ES" so that I can compile the Lord of The Rings on it.

  3. I always think of the illness… 🙂

That’s not to insult Mono. They’re one of the few products on Linux I use and enjoy. (Actually, most everything from Ximian has been extremely polished and useful.)
