New language innovation from MS research

Anson and I chatted last night about the very interesting work done my MS research to advance langauge theory and incorporate recent innovations into our process of designing software.  These include the ASML project and Polyphonic C# (most likely iwth more that I an unaware of).  I could talk a lot about hte very interesting ways things they’re doing (And i’ll probably do that later), but I also recomment you take a look at it.  He’s going to reach out to those teams to get them to come and chat with our team about what they’re doing and how their work can benefit programmers out there.  We can then work with them to help advance C# and make it better (hopefully without cluttering it up too much)

you might want to check out nemerle, too (http://nemerle.org). It’s sort of a bastard child of C# and ML, with a bunch of nice ideas of their own thrown in. The macro facilities, in particular, are extremely impressive.

  2. Hehehe. Reminds me a bit of the pizza project that attempted to do similar things with java.
