Charts based on dynamic ranges in Excel Services 2010

Hey folks, been asked about this a few times already, so thought I would post – if you are using any of the betas, you will notice that your charts based on dynamic ranges that used to work in 2007 no longer work. This has been fixed and will be available in the RTM bits.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment. If you have sample workbooks that use charts based on dynamic ranges you can share, please send them to me, I will try to find some time to make sure they work.

Thats great Shahar. How about publishing a pivot table without the page filter part. I would like to have the benefit of the expandable rows in the Pivot table in Excel Services, but having the filter (extarnal to Pivot table) in another connected webpart, and hence not showing the pivot table page filter (being parsed in as a parameter. Can I create a dynamic named range or something for the "body part" of the table? Any tricks you can share?

Did you try hiding the row containing the filter? I am not connected to corp, so I cannot test it on a live Excel server. Let me know if it does not work for you.

Thanks for the good news.  There are so many scenarios that use dynamic named range data series based charts all over the place that we even started to work on an OOXML workaround based on your previous blog post.

    Thanks for finding it. 🙂
