MARK YOUR CALENDARS: MSDN Webcast on Windows Mobile Device Security coming up on Wednesday, January 7, 2009

I hope everybody had a nice holiday season. Now January is here and we’re moving right ahead with our Webcast series on 24 Hours of Windows Mobile Application Development.

This week, Maarten Struys and I will discuss Device Security for Windows Mobile Devices. The Windows Mobile Security model is very flexible. Using different security policies, it is possible to control which applications are allowed to run on a particular device and what those applications can do.

In this sample-filled Webcast, we will explain how the Windows Mobile Security model works, and they show you how you can mimic device security using the emulator in combination with the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Device Security Manager. Maarten and I will also demonstrate how to sign your applications with certificates to allow them to run as either privileged or normal applications on Windows Mobile devices.

This week’s Webcast will air on Wednesday, January 7th, at 10 AM PST.
