    Great article, but I am curious why changing the Internet Explorer settings to let the client detect the proxy settings would be much faster than having the name of the proxy server already set in the Internet Explorer settings ?  I would like more details as part of considering whether we change our corporate standard of Internet Explorer configuration.

    From Page 7 of the document:

    "Update LAN settings

    If there is no Proxy Server in the environment or if a client is used to handle the proxy settings, performance can be greatly improved by setting Internet Explorer to automatically detect the proper settings.
