The future of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Accelerators

image Coinciding with the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 we wanted to give you an update on the accelerators program which was launched in May 2008 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 customers and partners. The exciting news is that accelerators are graduating to Solutions in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011! We will publish these solutions on the recently launched Microsoft Dynamics Marketplace. The existing CRM 4 accelerator CodePlex sites will be decommissioned the over the next few months.

Which accelerators are graduating?

Of the existing CRM 4 accelerators, we have started by graduating the following to CRM 2011 as solutions:

· Customer Portal

This is the migration of the Customer Portal Accelerator which included Portal Integration, eService and Event Management functionality.

· Partner Relationship Management (PRM) Portal

This is the migration of the Partner Relationship Management accelerator.

· Customer Care Accelerator (CCA)

This is the CRM 2011 version of the Customer Care Accelerator

Additionally, the Non-Profit Solution for Microsoft Dynamics CRM has been migrated to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and is available on the Marketplace.

Where can you find them?

Solutions have been developed and published to the Microsoft Dynamics Marketplace by Microsoft Dynamics Labs. Keep checking this blog for further release announcements!

In addition to the migrated accelerators, Microsoft Dynamics Labs will publish new solutions to demonstrate additional capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 or provide a starting point for some innovative CRM extensions. We hope you will find these valuable additions for your Microsoft Dynamics CRM implementation!

What about the remaining accelerators?

The capabilities of these four accelerators are provided as out-of-box features in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011:

· Extended Sales Forecasting is provided by the new Goal Management module

· Business Productivity Workflow Tools have been absorbed into the standard workflow and dialogs features

· Business Data Auditing is replaced with a full-featured business data auditing feature

· Analytics R2 is replaced with the investments in contextual visualizations and real-time dashboards

The following four are being considered as potential features or solutions in the future roadmap of the product beyond Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011:

· Business Productivity Newsfeed

· Notifications

· Social Networking Accelerator

· Enterprise Search R1

Keep checking this blog and Microsoft Dynamics Labs for the updates and latest solutions from the CRM team!

  1. Regarding the comment "Business Productivity Workflow Tools have been absorbed into the standard workflow and dialogs features", I still haven't figured out how to include a link to a CRM record in an e-mail sent by a workflow rule. This functionality is included in the Business Productivity Workflow Tools accelerator for CRM 4.0, and I was expecting it to be out-of-the-box functionality for CRM 2011. PLEASE tell me it's available and I'm just missing it! PLEEEEEEEEAAASE!

  2. Michal says:

Hi, I am missing this feature as well. I have tried everything but cannot put GUID to the workflow email 🙁

  3. Rupert Fallows - The TAS Group says:

The TAS Group provides accelerators to do Target Account Selling Sales Methodology within Microsoft CRM. Only the TAS Group can sell our sales methodology IP for Microsoft CRM or from a licensed TAS partner and only the TAS Group can build our methodology inside Microsoft CRM or from a TAS licensed partner.

  4. Pertti Suutarinen says:

I could not find the customer care accelerator.

And urgently needing possibility to add link to a record in email.

  5. Jim Glass Jr says:

Customer Care Acceleraton (using Bing search)

  6. Palak Kadakia MSFT says:

The graduated version of Customer Care Accelerator hasn't been released yet. Keep an eye out on the blog for a release announcement!

  7. There isn't a way to add a link to a record in email out of box in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011. You can build customizations to do this though. Here's an example I found:…/email-record-links

  8. Michael Cross says:

Thanks for the confirmation, Palak. The ability to include a link to a record in an e-mail generated by a workflow rule is a relatively important feature that really should be done without customizations or custom plug-ins. This comes up with EVERY SINGLE implementation of CRM.

  9. Michal says:

Palak, how can you wrote: "Business Productivity Workflow Tools have been absorbed into the standard workflow and dialogs features"

    – this is not true. The most important feature of the accelarator was to have the possibility to put links into emails….

  10. Hi Palak,

Any updates on Social Networking Accelerator. Ever since Twitter moved to OAuth the accelerator stopped working. I also tried to work use the patch which was available on codeplex. But still could not get it working. Could you please please update me about that? I am eagerly awaiting for it.

  11. We are considering adding the social networking accelerator to a future release of CRM. Unfortunately, we do not have an update to the existing accelerator 🙁

  12. Thanks Palak for the reply. Can you direct me to some way to make it working for MS CRM 4.0? If possible can you mail me @ my personal mail ID. It would be of great help as I am badly in need of it for some client. I have gone through the 3rd party vendor solutions but dont want to use them because of their cost.

  13. Pertti Suutarinen says:

I found out that as i had bus productivity accelerator installed, and i migrated to 2011, the email link worked ok after migration.

There was difficulities though regarding the URL formats, they have changed from 4.0.

  14. At converngence it was indicated that notifications would work with 2011. I have not found anything stating that to be true. Does it word? If not can it be made to work?
