Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK – version 4.0.2

Check out this month’s update of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK – version 4.0.2!

New or updated topics in the help file (CHM):

  • Recurrence Pattern in Asynchronous Job Execution – A new topic about how to set the recurrence pattern for an asynchronous job.
  • Workflow: Attributes and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Types - Updated information about the supported types for custom workflow activities.
  • Enabling Duplicate Detection - Updated the information about the use of the isduplicatedetectionenabledforonlinecreateupdate property.
  • Import File Entity Capabilities - Updated information about the correct ordering of messages for the import entity.

  • Updated the readme file with late breaking information.

In addition to the download package, the documentation will be live on MSDN soon.

We’ve got more in the pipeline for future releases:

  • More sample code, including custom workflow activities and data migration
  • Additional walkthroughs
  • Report writers guide
  • E-mail provider extensibility
  • Using the Outlook client SDK
  • Updated XML reference documentation for the customization file
  • And more!

Great job by the SDK team for getting another update to the SDK out. With 4.0 just being released the

When will Report Writers Guide be released? We are in the phase of developing Reports for CRM 4.0. The only reference is CRM 3.0 SDK, which is actually still applicable. It’s just nice, if we have the latest SDK for reports. Thanks.

  3. Christoph says:

    Hi,

    where is the Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Sdk.dll gone?

    Thanks

  4. Amy Langlois says:

We’ve had lots of requests for the 4.0 report writers guide. We’re working on it and it will be out in March.

As for the Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Sdk.dll, It looks like it slipped out of the release. However, it did not change so if you still have the 4.0.1 SDK, you can use that DLL. It can also be found in the product bits. We’ll make sure it gets put back into the next SDK download.

  5. Marcel says:

Hi, I try to build a workflow, like in the samples you can find in the web. But with your changes, non of the walkthroughs will work.

What has happend to the "CRM Workflow Configuration and Deployment Manager"?

Can you provide a simple Walkthrough which works with SDK4.02?

  6. Amy Langlois says:

All the tools to build XOML (no-code) workflows were removed from the SDK. This feature was in a pre-release version of the product but was pulled from the RTM version. The tools should have been pulled from the SDK but we missed this.

However, the SDK still contains all the information and samples for building custom workflow activities. These are .NET assemblies that can be called from a workflow created with the Web app. See the sample code here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc151229.aspx

Between creating workflows using the tools in the Web app and custom workflow activities, you should have everything you need for customizing workflows for the on-premise version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
