Top 10 Most Wanted Dynamics CRM Snap-ins


During the course of giving and preparing countless CRM demos as Satya’s demo whipping boy, I’ve made frequent use of our Dynamics Snap-ins because they show off the *cough* harmony *cough* between Office and Dynamics.  Customers always get that faraway “wow, that’s cool!” look in their eyes.  In spite of my reservations about how simple this first wave of snaps seems to me, I have found that customers just love them.  That got me fired up about what I could expect our partner community to contribute.  This is the tip of the iceberg!  I want more snaps!



I’ve always been a big fan of top ten lists, so here is my top ten most wanted snaps for the future:




  1. Meeting Notes Recorder (InfoPath or OneNote?)
  2. Excel Bi-di synch
  3. Project sync
  4. Live Communication Server
  5. adCenter integration
  6. Word proposal generator
  7. Excel forecasting
  8. local.live mashup (DONE!)
  9. LinkedIn integration
  10. Factiva integration (DONE!)
  11. google finance competitive news analysis
  12. google trends campaign search
  13. Sales Pipeline gadget for Vista Sidebar or Windows Live

Note: If you want to build one of these (or better yet, if you already have built one) let me know!  I’d be happy to give you my 2c on how it might get implemented.  But I’ll give you fair warning that I may get bored and will be forced to code some of these up myself. J

    I would like to create a Sharepoint Document Library integration with MS CRM 3.0, so that whenever a new entity record is created (e.g. a new account or new contact) a SHarepoint site or workspace is automatically created (with the entity’s GUID and Name) so that documents can be uploaded.  Can you give me any hints or ideas on how I can do this?  Thank you.

    I have recently installed CRM 3.0 and have found that it is not really friendly with the sync with QuickBooks. Is there anyone out there that can offer help in setting this up. I need to sync Account information, and export activities and cases to Quickbooks for Invoicing.
