This is the first time I've seen someone, other than myself, discuss the advantages of file based images, such as single instancing, image maintenance and non-destructive deployment and the availability of a public API set. 

Jerry's conclusion..."XImage and the new WIM image format is a significant enhancement for Windows Vista."  Obviously, I agree.
