IT Pro session:

e-commerce best practices and lessons learned for IT Professionals (considerations for scalability, performance, manageability)

This Session is for the IT Professionals responsible for recommending and implementing e-commerce projects working closely with the business owners, merchants and marketing teams in your company. E-commerce web properties are part of the dollars and cents life-blood of many organizations today - getting e-commerce right is one of the most formidable challenges facing IT Professionals. Also, many companies are re-evaluating their strategy for web properties to identify new opportunities to i) improve the online experience for customers and partners (i.e. multi-channel selling and marketing, social networking) ii) bring multiple brands, channels and campaigns to market in a fast and cost effective manner iii) have an environment that empowers the business users to manage their e-commerce business with simple tools that allow them to easily create campaigns and make them available in a secure and reliable way without IT development needed. This session provides priorities for evaluating e-commerce solutions and best practices for ongoing daily operations, deployment planning and, if time permits, performance considerations. Based on audience feedback at the start of the session, we may also outline Microsoft's next generation Web initiative and strategies and e-commerce technology roadmap.
