I just finished reading George Durzi’s article Building Communications-Enabled Applications With Microsoft Lync Server 2010.  The article provides a great overview of the scenarios enabled by the Lync Platform SDKs (now in release candidate).

George and I worked on the Lync early adopter program, so he’s been working with the platform longer than anyone else outside of Microsoft.  You can get a feel for his depth of knowledge on his blog.
