LANs
No not the normal Local Area Network ... or even Wireless LANs ... i am talking about a particular meeting that occurs between gamers. I was privy to attend an invite only LAN last weekend ... and being a LAN virgin i was not sure what to expect.
After arriving at the signless location and pressing the intercom button i was asked “handle?”. Nice ... i knew enough to get past the first stage of the 28 hour gaming orgy.
The first few hours were strange, learning new terms and figuring out how to read handles made up of only symbols. After i connected my Shuttle (PC - at least it had some games kudos) to the gigabit LAN ... i got stuck in. File swapping and Gaming ... and loving it.

There is something quite addictive to being around 80 odd others who are all caffeinated up the eyeballs running around in a virtual world blowing the crap out of eachother.
