First blog post: Introducing Christine the technical evangelist!
Who is Christine?
There's a picture of me in the corner, that's probably a good start. I joined Microsoft as a technical evangelist a few weeks ago after graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with my bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I'm originally from the Bay Area and am very excited to be back and be part of the Microsoft community at this exciting time.
I've attended and presented at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (2010 & 2012) and The International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis (SC10 & SC11). You may remember me as the girl wearing yellow (I own a lot of yellow) with blonde curly hair. I also did internships with the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Microsoft: Windows Server, and at Tesla Motors.
What kinds of things does she like to work on?

The new Lego Mindstorms come out in September, and I'm quite excited about those as well.
I also love spreading my love of technology with local groups, especially getting young girls excited about and into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). I volunteer regularly with Girl Scouts, and participate in Girl Geek Dinners.
What is a Technical Evangelist?
A Technical Evangelist (TE) is a passionate and enthusiastic developer who loves supporting other developers. A successful TE loves to talk about exciting new developer tools and platform technologies, bits and bytes, best practices, and answer questions of customers, clients, and others in the developer community. TEs do this in a number of ways, through blogs, newsletters, videos, forums, newsgroups, websites, live events, and supporting local developer communities. A TE has a passion not only for technology and the latest and newest innovations, but also for proactively sharing this knowledge and information with others as well.
What will I learn in this blog?
Right now I'm working on building a Windows 8.1 app, check out my upcoming blog posts to follow my progress and learn how to build one yourself. After that, not sure yet - stay tuned, I'll make sure to keep it fun, interesting and useful.
