This Week at the GLobal Energy Forum…

I’ll be in Houston this week for the Global Energy Forum.  Nalco Company is speaking with OSIsoft about a solution they are building in their Energy Services division to help refiners better optimize water treatment.  They are using a software plus services approach using OSIsoft and Microsoft technologies and it should be a fantastic session.  You can find the session overview here.

Last week, I was out on the road, meeting with four different customers on four different days.  If I were to use one word to sum up the mood of the companies I have visited over the past couple of months, it is focused.

While these are unique times for everyone, the industry knows about tough times, and I see this reflected in the priorities of both business and IT.  The great companies are going to come out of this strong.  While IT is taking the time to simplify and reduce costs (which is a good thing), there is still a lot of innovation using information technology happening to advance the business.  The Nalco story above is a great example of using software and technology to provide better service to your customers.  What are you doing to grow your customer relationships during this downturn?
