Team Test Special Interest group December 15th in Redmond

The next Team Test Special Interest group will take place on Monday December 15th from 3-5:00PM in the Kalaloch room in Microsoft Building 35 (map).

We will try to follow the following schedule:

1. Alan Page talk – How We Test Software at Microsoft

2. Discussion on Manual Testing User Experience in Camano: We heard your feedback at the last hands on lab.  Since that time, we have been working on redesigning the Manual Testing UI to be simpler and to better accommodate common scenarios.  We’d like to get your feedback on a proposal for a new proposed UI.

3. Demo Writing Automated UI Tests in Visual Studio 2010: Euan Garden (Architect on the Test Team) will go over our experience of converting manual to automated test cases and writing automated UI tests in Visual Studio.

Alan Page, Director of Test Excellence and author of How We Test Software at Microsoft, will overview the strategies that we and other teams @ Microsoft employ to test our applications.

Alan is one of Microsoft’s first Test Architects and currently chairs the test group in Microsoft’s Engineering Excellence team. Among other things, Alan teaches testers how to be better testers, and he has designed and taught courses for Microsoft’s most senior testers and test managers.

We have ordered copies of Alan’s book and will hopefully have copies to give away.
