Windows Azure DevCamp - Live in Toronto and Streamed Online

hero-bg[1]Over the last little while, you’ve seen me hint at a big event happening on June 20. I couldn’t tell you what it was or what we would be talking about. All I could ask was that you save the date. Now that the “cat is out of the bag” so to speak and all of the new Windows Azure features and enhancements that been announced, I can finally share the details of the day with you.

On June 20, I have the distinct pleasure of being your host at this one-time, exclusive DevCamp live in Toronto and streamed live online. Join me, and Windows Azure experts James Conard and Cory Fowler as we launch the new Windows Azure here in Canada!

We’re all technical folks, right? So that means we want to dive deep. You’ll be doing just that as you learn firsthand how to use Windows Azure Virtual Machines, Windows Azure Websites, the new Windows Azure Management Portal, and the updated SDKs and tools to build new applications and easily migrate existing applications to the Cloud.

Best of all, after a bit of learning, you’ll get your hands “dirty” with hands-labs we’ll have available for you to test drive what you learned. Make sure to bring your laptop in order to participate.

And now… even more details. Here are the sessions of the day:

Getting Started with Windows Azure June 2012 Preview
In this first session you will learn how to quickly get started building cloud applications using several of the exciting new Windows Azure features and services provided with the June 2012 preview. You will see a parade of demos showing how these new services can be used in a variety of scenarios.

Windows Azure Websites
Windows Azure Web Sites is a simple, yet powerful platform for web applications in the cloud. In this session you will see how you can build and deploy everything from WordPress blogs to high scale web applications using your favourite languages, frameworks and tools.

Windows Azure Virtual Machines

In this session you will learn how to provision and customize Windows Azure Virtual Machines and configure Virtual Network connectivity to migrate, build and connect applications.

Windows Azure Storage, Databases, and Service Bus
Every application needs to store and manage data. In this session you'll get a firsthand look at the complete set of scalable and highly available data services including Windows Azure Storage and SQL Databases. You'll see how you can effectively use these services to build, migrate and extend data-centric applications in the cloud while using familiar tools.

Hackathon: Bring your notebook!
We'll cap the day off with an open, hands-on lab session. It's the perfect opportunity to get your dream application underway, or finish that app you've already started - with Windows Azure experts available to guide you through several labs. Bring your laptop to join in the fun.

Surely you’re intrigued enough by this point!
