EnergizeIT 2007 – Developer Track

Last Saturday, Microsoft Canada hosted an incredible event called EnergizeIT in Toronto (AKA, Accordion City). Approximately 1500 people showed up to this event, which featured tracks for designers, developers, IT professionals, and many others. We've already received a ton of feedback through the blogosphere:

For EnergizeIT, I was responsible for running the developer track. As track owner, I wanted to provide you with a good understanding of what's coming from Microsoft in regards to Web-related technologies and tools. That stated, I decided that the best way to do this was to show you some of the things we're working on; specifically, Visual Studio 2008, ASP.NET "Futures", ASP.NET AJAX, and Silverlight. Seeing how many people were attending the developer track, I think we hit the right topics.

As track owner, I wanted to have some of the best and brightest folks from Toronto to provide their knowledge and insight. I was able to get Barry Gervin, Kate Gregory, Donald Ho, and Scott Howlett to join me on-stage to talk to the developers at this event. I think they did a wonderful job! (Thanks, guys!) I hope you were able to get a sense of how exciting the next few years will be for Web developers.

So, what's next? Well, stay tuned. My colleagues (Christian Beauclair and Jean-Luc David) are incredibly excited about what we have planned. If you have something in mind or a suggestion about what you'd like to see us talk about in the next few months, submit a comment to let us know! We're always listening.

As promised, here is a list of resources that we highlighted during the developer track at EnergizeIT:

Finally, your feedback is incredibly important! Please visit www.energizeit.ca and let us know what you thought of the developer track as well as the event itself. It is very important that you let us know what you thought about EnergizeIT. We want to make the event even better!

To those who were able to attend EnergizeIT, thanks for coming! I hope you had a great time!
