I’ve been robbed

Literally. My house got burgled yesterday while we were all out. First time for me. The thief didn’t take much. $500 cash. $5000 worth of DVDs and CDs. But the thing that busts me up is that when they took my miniDV video camera, they took with the case it comes in, 12 months of video cassettes of my kids lives. Lots of memories there. They should do ten years hard time for that alone.

Then there’s the funny stuff. They took the remote control for my TV. The power cable for my laptop. My sister’s alarm clock. And when they took half of my DVD collection, they at least showed some taste. They took The Godfather Trilogy, X-Files Series One, The Sopranos Series One, etc. But they left my wife’s copy of “Little House On The Prairie, The Highlights”. You gotta love a criminal with enough self-respect to think “Hey – I may be a junkie and a low-life thief, but I am NOT going to be seen pawning anything by Michael Landon. That’s where I draw the line.”

You gotta love that.

Sorry to hear that man – I feel for you. I’ve had thousands of dollars worth of stuff stolen (from my car and home) before I was even 21 years old. It sorta made me re-evaluate the important things in my life though, to look at it optimistically. I have quite a different attitude now towards material things than I did before.

Very sorry to hear that. My family was robbed last month and my kids are still totally freaked out. And you were fortunate. The thief(s) that nailed us took all of our DVD’s…including my daughter’s complete Little House on the Prairie set she just got for Christmas. I guess Aussie thieves (that’s where you are I believe) are more discerning than the common low-life Denver, CO ones…..

best of luck Cameron. It’s a terrible feeling being robbed — makes you angry (incredibly angry!!), sad, hurt, many things.

hope they catch the suckers and rip their skin off.

That sucks, but (aside from the video tapes) at least it’s just stuff and all of you are all right.

Keep an eye out in the neighborhood. Lots of Criminals come back if they think they’ve found an easy target.

Yeah I say you smear butter over your windows and be ready next time for them (with a bag of popcorn to watch the ensuing comedy)

Bummer. Hope they didn’t take the Richard Simmons tapes, and the Michael Jackson box set?

Hey that’s terrible Cameron …. the sense of violation must be awful. Good to see they didn’t steal your sense of humour, one of the essences of you!

thanks for the thoughts and sympathy folks. we’re really okay though. just annoyed at ourselves for not locking the place up tighter and storing the video tapes somewhere safer. It could have been a LOT worse.
