Licensing 6 is beginning to look good when compared to Red Hat

From this article in eweek:

“Bottom line, I'm not complaining about the competition that Linux and the others bring because it only serves to keep MS honest with better prices and better innovation, but … Licensing 6 is beginning to look good when compared to Red Hat where they don't get you on the licensing but they nail you many times over on the support.”

But… how many times have you called customer support for Windows? In 10 years I haven’t called it once. Most problems can be solved by google, other sources.

From that POV, licensing 6 becomes less and less attractive, because why pay for new software if the ‘old’ software works ok still? To get the successor of the new software more cheaper? Do you know for sure? No.

    > why pay for new software

Because the world is moving on fast – those satisified with ‘good enough’ software will become dinosaurs whilst other exploit the latest advancements.
