my boss quits

My direct manager for the last 18 months, Christophe Dumonet, aka “the frenchman”, aka “The Napoleon of Microsoft”, aka “bloody Christophe” (that's only at review time)... resigned yesterday. I'm genuinely going to be sad so see him go. When I started working in his team we didn't really see eye-to-eye on some things and it took us a while to get to know each other, but I think I can safely say we've become friends and have a genuine mutual respect for each other's strengths 18 months later. He's joining one of our local partners, Uniqueworld, to head up their new ISV division. So look them up and keep an eye on them. Christophe is a very smart, passionate guy (and Eddie and Elon at Uniqueworld are no slouches themselves), so I expect to see big things coming out of UW over the next 18-24 months.

It's always sad to see smart, passionate people leave the place you work. Especially at Microsoft. We need all of the smart, passionate people we can find. We have a world to change. (sheesh I can't believe I wrote that last line.. sounds like something that would come out of Marketing). We have a COMPANY to change. That sounds better.

Anyway... CD... au revoir mon ami. je vous souhaite chaque succès à l'avenir. Et Vive L'Empereur!
