Visual Studio templates for NAV Add-Ins updated to support also Visual Studio 2012

Just a quick note: I have updated the templates for Visual Studio that help you to create the skeleton code for Add-Ins with a view clicks. Now you can also use Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Smile. Visual Studio 2012 is supported by this same template installation.

Please find the download here:

NAV 2013 Tool – Add-In templates for Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012

The express versions of Visual Studio unfortunately do not support those templates.

Do these templates work with NAV2009R2 / VS2012?

    Hi aldo,

With the templates for VS2012 you can also create AddIns for NAV2009R2 – provided that you restrain the AddIn to using only the .NET types 'string' or 'object' if you choose the data binding.

    Best, Christian

Thanks Christian. Keep up the good work. There is not much to find on Add-ins for NAV a few example projects with sources would be helpfull.

    Hello Christian,

Thank you so much for providing all the examples and knowledge it is very helpful. I am trying to create a control using your templates to read and write binary data from a blob field. DO you have a working version or walkthrough of using this template. What additional coding would need to be done to this template to bind it to a blob field in NAV 2013? If you could email me any pointers I would appreciate it. Karcher@futurestatedynamics.com
