I spoke at the SQL Saturday event in Olympia, Washington, and I noticed that the questions I got were different than those I used to get for SQL Server. In my former life I managed not only SQL Server but other platforms as well. When I would speak to SQL Server groups, many of the folks there were just implementing a database platform, so the questions revolved around installation and configuration. The questions I get lately are more around things like advanced replication techniques, implementing a SOA system using the Service Broker, and integration into other systems.
I’m impressed with the talent of the people I spoke with Saturday. They are an intelligent group of folks doing a great job with a great platform. It was a hoot working with them.
