I’m continuing my series on the Standard Reports in SQL Server Management Studio, and today we’re in the management reports. You can find these reports by starting SQL Server Management Studio and right-clicking the SQL Server Agent node. From the menu that appears, click the Standard Reports, and then select the title at the top of this post. This report shows Instance information about the top jobs your SQL Server Agent runs. This is another report you should check every day.
The first section of the report shows you a graph showing the number of successful and failed job runs.
Each of the bands in the report have the same columns, but show different information:
- 20 Most Frequently Executed Jobs
- 20 Most Frequently Failing Jobs
- 20 Slowest Jobs
The information shown in each report is:
|Job Name||The recorded name of the job|
|Owner Name||The principal that owns the job|
|# Total Executions||The number of times the job has run, successfully or not|
|# Failed Executions||The number of times the job has failed|
|Avg. Run Duration (sec.)||The average time, in seconds, that the job takes|
|# Avg. Retries||The average number of times the job had to restart|
|# Steps||The number of steps in the job|
|# Schedules||The number of schedules that apply to this job|
