What’s installed on the build machine in Visual Studio Online?

If you are using Visual Studio Online and wondering what’s installed on the build machine for your builds to use, we have a list here. Tarun Arora, one of our MVPs, put together a web site that shows a comprehensive list of what’s installed: http://listofsoftwareontfshostedbuildserver.azurewebsites.net/.

Are you planning and to update to VS2013 RC ?

    I have a project I cannot build anymore…

Jeremy, the VMs do not currently have RC on them, as you've noticed. Does switching to MSBuild 12.0 help? If you want to contact me through the blog, I'd be interested to know what the errors are.

I created a C++ custom action project using WiX 3.8 and VS2013.  It builds on my on-prem server that has VS2013 but fails to build on the cloud hosted build controller.  One web page says that VS2013 is installed but that same page doesn't say Windows Installer XML is installed and yet I know it is because my installer builds when I remove the C++ project from the solution.  What am I missing?

C:Program Files (x86)MSBuildMicrosoft.Cppv4.0V110Microsoft.Cpp.Platform.targets (44): The builds tools for v120 (Platform Toolset = 'v120') cannot be found. To build using the v120 build tools, either click the Project menu or right-click the solution, and then select "Update VC++ Projects…". Install v120 to build using the v120 build tools.

Christopher, I believe you will need to change the template used by your build definition to build with MSBuild 2013 instead. To do that, edit your build definition, click on the Process tab, and changes the build process template to the TfvcTemplate.12.xaml. Once you save that change to the build definition, your build should use the 2013 MSBuild and should work.
