Blogging in line waiting for Halo 2…

...just because I can. I'm waiting outside the Microsoft company store and I'm #15 in line. I can't WAIT to get in, get my copy, and start playing. Honestly I wasn't planning on even coming to get a copy today, because I didn't want to fight the lines, but when I woke up at 5:00am I considered it to be a sign. My neighbor, Elizabeth (aka KrustiGutz) is already ranked #5 in the world. 🙂

See ya online -

Dude, do you play with a mouse and keyboard? I played it today. Yeah it’s good for a console FPS, but doesn’t hold a candle to how it would play on a PC.

Ugh, you are yet another PC gaming bigot… No, I don’t play with a mouse and a keyboard. But you know me well enough to know that I come from a video background where I am pretty damn good with a mouse and a keyboard, and also pretty damn good with a game controller. No matter what you try to say, either form takes practice. If you were to put in the time to use the Xbox controller you would be just as good or better than anybody with a mouse and keyboard. I will give you the fact that the graphics and sound can be much better on PC; but the Xbox hardware (fundamentally a PC) is almost 3 years old, so this is expected. Nevertheless, graphics and sound don’t always directly correlate to game play. Halo 2 has to be the most fun FPS game out there (in my opinion) if nothing else for the multiplayer capability. XBox Live is the best multiplayer gaming environment I’ve ever played. I think I’m going to hit my comment character limit, so I’ll save my reasons why for another post.

Yes, the Xbox live thing definately wins over PC, due to everyone having to have one to play, whereas on PC there are pleny of people who are comm-less.

Hopefully, you’re playing in HD mode. I’d like to see it like that. In 2-player SD mode, it doesn’t even feel 3-D.

  4. Ian says:

However, the Xbox live thing costs monthly, doesn’t it? That sucks.

Also, I don’t think I’m bigoted, just objective. In fact, I’ll grant the xbox this:

It’s the first console system that is really able to handle FPS games. Not processing-wise, but because of it’s HD mode, and it’s networking capabilities. Up until the xbox, FPS on consoles were total wastes of time.

HD: I ran all over town yesterday looking for the HD adapter kit. Everywhere I went was sold out. I hope to have one by this weekend. I can’t wait to see this puppy in HD.

XBox Live: Yes, there is either a $4.99 monthly fee or a $50 yearly fee. But every Live! game comes with a 2 month voucher for Live service, and as much as I use it I definitely get my money’s worth. You get what you pay for and I don’t mind paying $50 per year.
